"ICEWINE" is a thriller that is set in Europe and follows the adventures of Alex James, owner of a boutique hotel and gourmet restaurant in London, his girlfriend, a tempestuous Italian wine buyer, and his friend, a wealthy, Egyptian philanthropist and gourmand. The adventure begins when Alex and his friends purchase a vintage bottle of rare German wine at a London auction. The wine is Icewine, a unique wine that can only be produced when grapes freeze on the vine, are immediately picked, and pressed into wine. Their bottle was once the property of Hermann Goring, second in command to Adolf Hitler. By luck, the trio uncovers a microfilm on the underside of the label that was hidden by Goring. The microfilm contains a clue to a fortune he hid during the waning months of the war; a fortune that would be used to begin a new Reich. The trio deciphers the clue and decides to follow where it leads them. All the while, they are being tracked by Nazi killers, who intended to purchase the bottle themselves and will stop at nothing to claim Goring's hidden fortune. The adventure takes them across Europe as they unravel the clues to the fortune, ultimately confronting the Nazi killers and the secret past of Hermann Goring.

This was a quick, entertaining and knowledgeable read! The characters are developed and work well together, the plot is different and interesting and I learned many things about wine and Goering during his last days in Nazi Germany. Give this one a try!Product details

A quick and enjoyable read. The look-inside pages will tell you that this is about a search for the undiscovered remnants of the Nazi-looted treasure. To go much beyond that here would spoil the story. As the headline suggests, it follows the puzzle-solving model of the DaVinci Code and its imitators. The Internet stands in for the usual hero's omniscience and there is a minimum of mayhem, leaving a pleasant if somewhat antiseptic story that is almost 1960-ish ... three yuppies out on a lark. You'll be trwated to mant references to fine wines and (as I think the author I tended) a fairly comprehensive summary of what is generally known about the Nazi's treasure-hoarding operation. As a nit, the editors allowed several instances of the wrong word (e.g. waive vs. wave) to make it into the text, not enough to detract from the reading and it's just my perspective as a writer myself it's annoying to pay someone to do this and still have issues.
Three uniquely mismatched aristocrats find themselves neck deep in a mystery over a piece of microfilm placed on the back of a label of a 70 year old bottle of Icewine, On It was the location of the treasure Nazi General Hermann Goring hid to further the Nazi movement after the war. The story moves along somewhat slowly but the characters are engaging and personable. If you enjoy historical fiction with a bit of mystery you'll enjoy this book.
I couldn't put this book down and recommend will recommend it to everyone! If you are looking for a thriller, this is your book.
A great summer read!!! Loved how Bruno developed his characters and kept me in suspense. Didn't want the book to end. Can't wait till the next one!!
Loved this book. I can't wait for Alex and Crew to go to France. Great read couldn't put it down. The book left me feeling great. Maybe the wine or the Food or the trip through Europe. You can't go wrong with this read.
Liked the plot development, historical details, and descriptions of wine, auction process, etc. At few times, witing was "heavy handed" /clumsey.
The storyline and character development is a little weak. However, this novel is the author's first and I'm hoping the sequels will get better with time and experience. It's worth the price.
